"Marietta Legacy Project"

An art project celebrating Marietta’s history while raising awareness and funds for our local museums

Official Guidelines

1. Marietta Legacy Project asks community members to celebrate people, places and/or events from our past, 500 – 2009, by creating a work of art. All entries must be no larger than 24” by 24”. Using paint, wood, metal, fabric, or whatever your imagination decides, create a 2 or 3-D art piece depicting a person, place and/or event to be displayed as part of a timeline of Marietta’s history.
2. The $25 registration fee is considered a donation to the Campus Martius and Ohio River Museums and is tax deductible. Make checks payable to the Friends of the Museums Inc. A reduced registration fee for students is $15.
3. In order to cover the full spectrum of Marietta’s historical past, the Marietta Legacy Project organizers encourage participants to be diverse. Register your idea now to claim it! Check our website, www.riversideartistsgallery.com to see a list of projects already chosen.
4. All entries submitted to the Marietta Legacy Project will be on display to the public at the Riverside Artists Gallery (188 Front St, Marietta, OH 45750) beginning April 9, 2010 and running through the month of April.
     a. If your piece is going to be 3-D, it must be self-standing. 2-D pieces need to be ready to hang with wire, chain, hook, etc.
     b. No power source will be available for individual pieces of art- but don’t let that discourage you from using batteries!
     c. Legacy organizers reserve the right to not display any entry deemed inappropriate for the show.
5. Participants agree to allow the Project organizers to use their art pieces during 2010.
     a. After the opening show at Riverside Artists Gallery, the Marietta Legacy Project reserves the right to move the art pieces to additional locations.
     b. Participants may choose to allow the Marietta Legacy Project organizers to auction their art piece during the Gallery event in April. All the proceeds      from the auction will go directly to the Friends of the Museum and are tax deductible. Participants may also choose to keep their art piece following the      conclusion of the Project shows in 2010.
