Beverly Walker, an award-winning artist in several mediums, currently specializes in two contrasting techniques…handwoven tapestries, and hand-painted silks .

Beverly has studied fine art at the University of Kentucky and at West Dean College, Chichester, England, as well as through years of studio study. While residing in Kentucky, Beverly founded two art schools and was a visiting instructor in Shanghai, China.  While in Idaho the last two years, she taught regional workshops in tapestry weaving, silk painting, and other fiber techniques.

Why these mediums?   “Tapestry weaving’s  movement of  yarns through one’s hands is a calming, sensory,  tactile experience.  This contrasts dramatically with the mental excitement of watching amazing chemical reactions from applying fiber-reactive dyes  and additives to silk. ”   Some days call for calmness;  some for pizzazz.
